Import a classification system using a Microsoft Excel file
Classification codes are not tied specifically to projects. They can be used in multiple areas, such as to categorize companies and cost database items, create sections in an estimate, or for job cost codes.
Prepare a Microsoft Excel file for import
- Open a blank Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or download the sample file.
- The first row specifies the column names and must be labeled as shown in the table below.
Make sure that all the required fields are included. Field names do not contain any spacing within the word, or before and after.
Make sure that the sheet is labeled as Sheet1.
- Start entering data from the second row.
- Save the file in Excel 97-2003 format (*.xls).
- Close the file to enable Sage Construction Management to import the data.
Import the file
-
Log in to Sage Construction Management as an Admin.
- Go to Settings (
) > Company Settings > Cost Codes.
- Select Import Classifications From Microsoft Excel.
- In the Classification Type field, enter the classification label.
For example, Tower GC Cost Codes.
- Select Choose File to upload the file with the classification system from your local drive.
After the file is uploaded, Sage Construction Management will automatically create the classification system and import the data.
