Companies overview
One of the first things to do when implementing Sage Construction Management is to enter companies that are involved on your projects, including customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and so on.
To aid data entry, Sage Construction Management provides tools to import a company list from Microsoft Excel. In addition, there are link utilities for copying customers and vendors from Microsoft Outlook or an accounting system such as Intuit QuickBooks, Sage 50 Canada, and Xero.
When entering companies manually, the company name is the only required field. However, most project detail reports show address, phone, and fax numbers, so it's recommended to enter this information as well. In addition, field staff can view this information from the mobile app. Therefore, being as thorough as possible benefits the entire operation.
About companies
- The contact management system is two-tiered: companies and contacts.
- Companies can be categorized using company types, which is a built-in classification system. Categorizing companies is especially beneficial when filtering the listing to add firms to an invitation to bid (ITB) list or RFP package.
- Insurance can be documented for subcontractors and suppliers. Sage Construction Management will alert the user when entering POs, bills, subcontracts, SCOs, and sub invoices if expired insurance records exist.
- You cannot delete companies unless all associated contacts, insurance records, and project references have been removed.
- In projects with the Specify Contacts for Project option selected, only companies with contacts are available in the project directory.
